The Ton Holiday Bows and The Caring Hearts Card Drive

Hello Creative Peeps!

It is my second year to participate in The Caring Hearts Card Drive. It is an honor and a project close to my heart as I run my own carehome for the elderly. It is always so exciting and heartwarming for them to receive any kind of card throughout the year.

In preparation for my Christmas card contribution, I'm back to coloring The Ton's - Holiday Bows stamp.  I did a youtube video last year and you can find it HERE

Here are the colors I've chosen this year. I did blue last year.

Refer back to my video as to how I colored them.

 Now to the card drive...

Please refer to Vera Yates' or Jennifer McGuire's website for more information.

Thanks for stopping by and looking forward to your participation

Take care everyone!!!
Lynn

SugarPea Designs Caring Hearts Special Release

Hi and welcome to SugarPea Designs Caring Hearts Special Release. You should have arrived from Laura Basen's Blog. We are so excited to join SugarPea Designs for this special hop in celebration of the upcoming 7th annual Caring Hearts Card Drive.

Vera (the mastermind behind the card drive) and Jennifer McGuire along with their team of volunteers will be collecting handmade holiday cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes from October 1 to November 25.  Vera will have all of the card drive details up on her blog on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016.

I found out about the Caring Hearts Card Drive last year.  I created 30 cards for the great cause. I am also the administrator of my own carehome and asked Vera if I could have cards sent to my residents.  Of course with her kind heart, she said yes! My residents received two cards each last year and felt so loved when they opened them. All  the cards were all so wonderful and beautifully made.  I was so touched and overjoyed that I asked Vera if I could help out in 2016 and be the West coast collection center. Again, she said yes! Though I didn't know I would participate in a Blog Hop and be included with the Creative All-Stars of the cardmaking world! This is quite the honor and I'm hoping and praying that I have an ounce of creativity as all these beautiful, generous and talented ladies. I  created three cards from this special release to share with you.

Caring Hearts...
This first card I created a watercolor background. I did not tape it down while painting. After using my heating tool to speed the drying process, I ran it through a laminator to help smooth out the warping.  I die cut several pieces of the heart beat. Each diecut has four layers for a raised inlay look.

As an administrator of a 15 bed carehome for the elderly. It takes a big caring heart to assist and look after my residents, especially those suffering with Alzheimers. I am thankful for my Care Partners whose hearts are even bigger and warmer.

Caring Critters...
My second card has very cute characters. I really enjoyed coloring this guy. I used colored pencils and then blended with gamsol odorless mineral spirits. The process is very simple and magical.  I loved how this guy turned out. At my carehome, we hug are residents several times throughout the day. It does make their hearts happy.

Kindness Matters...
The last card is very simple and represents  what I always try to strive in every aspect of my life...Kindness.  Everyday we show love and kindness to our residents. It does matter. It is an honor to participate in the Caring Hearts Card drive as it is so close to my heart. Spread kindness everywhere you go! It is contagious and will come back to you in return.

Here are more bows... I really enjoy coloring these.

Well here it is, my very first YouTube video you can find it right HERE. I made blue ribbons.

You're the best of the bunch

I am totally loving MFT stamp's Fall Folliage. The cards that I have seen others make are just so so cute! I used my MISTI and went crazy and stamped a whole bunch of flowers.

It is based on Cas(e) this Sketch # 143 shown below

I had a hard time "arranging" the flowers. I don't think I can work at a flower shop.

I still have a lot of left over flowers.

Thank you for looking

Materials Used:
MFT Stamps
Mama Elephant Stamps
Simon Says Stamp Hybrid Ink

My heart and thoughts are with you

I run a carehome for the elderly and one of the most difficult things we experience is the end of life.  One of my hospice residents passed away peacefully a few days ago.  Though the families are prepared because their loved one is in hospice, I always find it difficult to tell them the moment has come and that they passed away.

I made this card for them

I based it on the Fusion Card Challenge

I hope you like my card

MFT Stamps: Fall Florals stamp and dies
Hero Arts: Sentiment stamps

Online Card Class - Day 2

Hi there. Here is my card for day 2 of Online Card Classes: Watercolor for Card Makers: Exploring Mediums.

I tried the no line coloring technique. This was hard for me. I'm more comfortable doing no line coloring with my Copic markers. I have more control with the blending. I used the storage envelope to apply the distress inks because when I used the nonstick craft mat, I couldn't see what colors I was using.

I had to make up my own leaves as I couldn't see my outline that much. I took this picture before stamping on the verse, just in case I made a boo boo.

I used my MISTI for perfect placement. I used two different  Mama Elephant sets for this card.
I used Tim Holtz's Distress inks for water coloring.

Doesn't look so nice up close. I need to practice and probably need better water color paper.
I drew on the eyelashes.

Thanks for looking. Have a creative day!

Online Card Class - Day 1

Hello there. Thanks for visiting me. I am taking the Online Card Class - Watercolor for Card Makers, Exploring Mediums.  I have been using watercolors for awhile but by taking the class I have learned a lot of new techniques. Here is my card for Day 1.

Here they taught us how to blend from markers directly on the paper. Of course, their presentation of marker coloring onto paper was a lot neater than mine.

Looks so much better when water was added.
I sprinkled some water droplets onto the watercolors for a more water colored look. Love it.

I cut out the leaves from a set from MFTStamps

Stamped a sentiment from Mama Elephant Stamps.
I love how the inks from Tim Holtz Distress ink pads blend and go so perfectly together.

Now on to Day 2.
Thanks for looking.
Take care!
