Online Card Class - Day 2

Hi there. Here is my card for day 2 of Online Card Classes: Watercolor for Card Makers: Exploring Mediums.

I tried the no line coloring technique. This was hard for me. I'm more comfortable doing no line coloring with my Copic markers. I have more control with the blending. I used the storage envelope to apply the distress inks because when I used the nonstick craft mat, I couldn't see what colors I was using.

I had to make up my own leaves as I couldn't see my outline that much. I took this picture before stamping on the verse, just in case I made a boo boo.

I used my MISTI for perfect placement. I used two different  Mama Elephant sets for this card.
I used Tim Holtz's Distress inks for water coloring.

Doesn't look so nice up close. I need to practice and probably need better water color paper.
I drew on the eyelashes.

Thanks for looking. Have a creative day!

Online Card Class - Day 1

Hello there. Thanks for visiting me. I am taking the Online Card Class - Watercolor for Card Makers, Exploring Mediums.  I have been using watercolors for awhile but by taking the class I have learned a lot of new techniques. Here is my card for Day 1.

Here they taught us how to blend from markers directly on the paper. Of course, their presentation of marker coloring onto paper was a lot neater than mine.

Looks so much better when water was added.
I sprinkled some water droplets onto the watercolors for a more water colored look. Love it.

I cut out the leaves from a set from MFTStamps

Stamped a sentiment from Mama Elephant Stamps.
I love how the inks from Tim Holtz Distress ink pads blend and go so perfectly together.

Now on to Day 2.
Thanks for looking.
Take care!

Thanks

I'm trying to find some me time between work, running errands, taking care of parents and taking care of my family and house. Even if it's just an hour to color or make a card... I'll take it.

I had no problem stamping on the diecuts. I easily used the handy dandy MISTI.
The only trouble I had was figuring out how to position the two layers of diecuts.
I used the flowers and leaf to hide the bald spots.

I bent the leaves forward for more dimension.

This card is for the Sweet Sunday and Simon Says STAMPtember use a stamp challenges.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Hugs.

So Very Grateful

Wow! My last blog entry was almost a year ago. How sad. I must of been very busy...yup!

A few weeks ago a local quilters group donated ten "clothing protectors", they didn't want to call the bibs, to my carehome for the elderly. Our Ombudsman who delivered them gave me their address and suggested that I send them a thank you note. I really should have taken a picture of them. They are so beautiful, colorful and intricate.

I thought the card I made was truly appropriate.  I did the die cut inlay technique.

It did take me a long time to create and I'm so happy with it. But I have so many scraps.
I could make 4 more cards, but do I want to...hahahaha.

I was inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 285

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Take care!

Avery Elle Challenge: clean & simple

Though it's still very hot where I am in California, I've decided to make a fall-themed card, hoping that that it will cool down a bit.  I'm entering this card into the Avery Elle Challenge, where the theme is Clean and Simple.

To keep this card clean and simple, I left a lot of white space.  I also stuck to a simple color palette of 3 colors.

Thank you for checking this out.

Celebrate...again.

I made another card for the current challenge for Mama Elephant and Me.

Again, I picked up on the pompoms and the colors. I also added a touch of burlap.

I used white streamers and colored them with Copics.

Cute pandas, right?!

Thanks for visiting.

Celebrate

Hello Everyone,

I'm loving Mama Elephant's  new challenge found at Mama Elephant and Me!  Once I saw the inspiration I knew exactly what I wanted to do. First thing I saw were pompoms or is it really pompons?

I try to make at least ten cards because I have a lot of family and friends who like my cards.  I am totally into watercoloring right now and prepped my cards onto 7 mil laminated construction paper with basic painter's tape.

I also scribbled and dabbed some of Tim Holtz's distress inks on laminated watercolor paper scrap.

I totally had an assembly line going on for sure. I love how the colors really went well together.

I used paper streamers and my quilling tool to make the pompons.

Cute, right?!  This stamp set, In My Heart, is inspired by Operation Write Home. 20 % of retail profits from the sale of this cute stamp set will be donated to Operation Write Home from
June 15th to July 31st.

I don't know which version I liked better.

Hip Hip Hooray!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you liked it. Tomorrow you'll be seeing more Mama Elephant characters, like the pandas cheering us on!
